Families appreciate the access to excellent educational facilities, and living here, you will be in the catchments for the Currumbin Primary School and the highly sought-after Palm Beach Currumbin State High School. On Stewart Road, the Gold Coast Trades College offers apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship training, with graduates snapped up to work in the local creative industrial hubs.
There’s access to loads of sports and fitness activities, from yoga to footy, cricket to pickleball, martial arts, tennis, gyms and indoor climbing.
Whilst it’s only a short cycle along flat bike paths or a few moments to drive to the off-leash sands of Palm Beach for your canine pal, and to popular Currumbin Alley where there’s plenty of opportunity to enjoy surfing, stand-up paddling, a swim, or making sandcastles with the little ones.
And if you’re up for a short ride (or drive) inland, the Currumbin Rock Pools are an absolute must for families. Tucked into the lush Currumbin Valley and just 10 to 15 minutes from the beach, this freshwater gem on Currumbin Creek Road offers crystal-clear mountain spring water, gentle shallow areas perfect for little ones, and deeper pools for those who want a proper swim. There’s no shortage of facilities either — shaded picnic tables, BBQs, and toilet amenities are all on hand, making it an easy spot to spend a relaxed few hours away from the surf. Dogs are welcome too, so the whole family can make a day of it.
Currumbin Creek Road is the main retail area with a mix of cool cafes (hello Stone’s Throw with its garden area which attracts people with their pups in tow, cyclists after a post-ride caffeine hit, and locals after looking for a delicious weekend brunch), Fuel Bakehouse is chockfull of tempting cakes and pastries, Dust Temple is ideal for casual coffee and snacks, while the popular Galleon café on Galleon Way has excellent coffee, pies and pastries, and Bread Social on Wheeler Crescent offers all manner of tempting baked treats. Along Stewart Road, there’s the vintage Iron & Resin Garage (you know, the cool retro joint with all the classic cars and vintage and modern motorbikes parked out the front), which offers a wide range of tasty burgers.
For dinner, there’s Zipang, which offers terrific Japanese meals, and always-busy Stoked Woodfire Pizza next door, and over the street on Currumbin Creek Road, there’s Sumptuous Fine Food, which offers a wonderful mix of gourmet groceries – Greek, Japanese, organic, local produce and other diverse ethnically made foods – and you can order a meal to eat in or take away.
Speaking of beer, the locals love Balter Brewing, which over the last decade has won global accolades including Best International Pale Ale, and they run a mighty fine taproom on Traders Way, near a host of art galleries, designers, woodworkers, printers, and practical businesses.
Alleygators is a popular sports club for locals to congregate, as well as the Currumbin RSL, where you can enjoy a great meal and a pint while overlooking Currumbin Creek.

The suburb has a down-to-earth approach through its sizable building and metal businesses, a thriving automative repair and custom sector, award-winning designers, and of course the multi-faceted Neumann Group which since the 1940s has been at the forefront of the vital steel fabrication, concrete reinforcement, dredging equipment, timber milling, and civil engineering/water infrastructure firms which many Gold Coast, state and national businesses, rely on.
